It’s Spring! That means it’s time to finally pick up the Blue Flame and start our RVing adventures. As seems to be our lot, things did not go exactly as planned. The plan WAS for us to drive to Decatur, Illinois, home of Tom and Pam (the sellers), get the RV and drive the RV and the van to a campground in Springfield, Illinois.
The plan became altered when, before we could leave town, Janelle was tackled during Quidditch practice and wrenched her knee. An X-Ray and MRI later revealed she had a torn ACL and a flipped and torn meniscus. It was surgery time! Janelle wouldn’t let me take a picture in recovery.
So, on to Plan B. Jim drove out to Decatur, I stayed behind with Janelle to play post-op nurse.
Thanks to Tom and Pam, Jim had a wonderful 2 days climbing in/over and around the Blue Flame. He “camped” in their shed and got to try everything out to make sure he was educated. I have no pictures of this because I was not there! We are blessed that he had such great hosts.
As of yesterday, Janelle and her knee were doing extremely well and I felt comfortable joining Jim and the RV. So Amtrak it is. I took the Friday 11:00 pm train (that left at midnight…typical) to Chicago. During my layover I had lunch with Callie (a silver lining there!).
I am currently on a second train going from Chicago to Springfield. FYI…this train is MUCH nicer than the ones that travel between Rochester and Chicago. Go figure.

The train arrives in about 1 1/2 hours. So soon I get to see our Palace on wheels. I can’t wait!
