We are now in Silver City, New Mexico. What does the Silver City area look like? I wish I knew! Well, here is our campsite…
And here are the two error messages our Jeep is tossing in our faces.
Yes, our 2014 diesel fueled Jeep is having problems. We attempted to drive up to the Gila Cliff Dwellings yesterday. But approximately 15 miles into the trip we got the exhaust filter message. Since there was no cell service anywhere out where we were at and heading, we opted to turn around and come back. We didn’t even take any pictures on the drive! I’m glad we did turn around. By the time we got back to town, the Jeep wouldn’t go over 25 mph. It’s called “Limp Home” mode. We did indeed limp back to the RV Park.
Fortunately, there is a Jeep dealership within walking distance of this lovely campground. So as of this morning, it’s over there being worked on. We may have the vehicle back tomorrow.
So for now, we sit and watch some very interesting weather patterns. We are the blue dot on the radar picture below.
For the past few hours it’s been a combination of sunshine followed by thunder, lightening and hail.
This is what we have been watching out our RV door. If you can’t click on the video and get it to play, use this YouTube link instead ==>. https://youtu.be/8QfqfOQu9JE
Needless to say, Jim and I have been getting lots done. I’m caught up on bills and paperwork. I’ve cleaned out my email inbox. I was able to pull my sewing machine out yesterday and work on a BOM (block of the month) project.
So, we sit and we wait and we watch the weather go by. This is not how we planned on spending our time in Silver City, but we are still enjoying it. Everyone needs downtime.
I hear more thunder. I think it’s going to rain again!
Monsoon season is a great time of year in NM. We got an inch yesterday on my side of Albuquerque. Hopefully we get more today.
Yo Bro! It’s definitely different than our New York weather, that’s for sure. Come visit us some winter and I’ll let you experience Lake Effect Snow!
Want a ride?
Trust me, if we weren’t able to get the Jeep into a dealer here, we would be at your place tomorrow…and borrowing a car. Hopefully all will be well. I’ll let you know.,
Hope the jeep gets fixed in a timely fashion. Rather nice that there was a “fix it” place close by. I don’t like it when those extra lights come on!!! Quite a storm. Glad you were “high and dry.”
It was pure coincidence that the Jeep dealer was so close. Jim had a nice walk back this morning.
