Serendipity is a wonderful thing. So is not having a schedule. While we were in Needles, California, Wade and Debi reached out to us. We first met Wade and Debi while boondocking at Gunsight Wash last year and met up again at the Escapees Rally. Once Jim and I realized where Wade and Debi were and it was sort of on the way to our next destination, we begged them to stay put so we could come visit.
That is how we came to be boondocking on Palm Canyon Road at Kofa National Wildlife Refuge just south of Quartzsite. It was only for two nights, but are we glad we stopped. What a beautiful place to sit and enjoy nature.
How does one find a friend’s rig when boondocking? They can’t give you an address. They give you their GPS coordinates. Flying a large flag over your rig doesn’t hurt either!

We will definitely be coming back to this area, there is lots to explore. But this visit was to see friends. To quote Wade and Debi, “We are finding in our travels that it’s more about the people than the destinations.” This stop was all about people.
Glad that you are getting to see so much in our county and sharing it with us via your pictures and narrative. Looking forward to more. Thanks!!!
This last place was special. 🙂 You would have loved it.
