Mountains are Beautiful!

We spent a long weekend at the KOA Campground in Hinton, Alberta.  The campground was the prefect place to relax, do laundry, etc etc etc.  The view of the mountains was pretty nice too!

Would you like to know what I did Saturday?

I made meatloaf in a toaster oven.  It came out suprisingly well!  Blue doesn’t have an oven, and I really haven’t missed it.  I brought the toaster oven as a backup.  It was worth it!

I also decided I need some “Me Time” to quilt.  So I dug out my sewing stuff, sorted through the projects I brought (too many!) and got some fun work done.

On Sunday, we decided to take a drive in the morning.  How can you resist when there is a sign like this beckoning.

It had the expected beautiful scenery.

Then we happened upon another coal mine.  Jim thoroughly enjoyed analyzing all the activity. I was surprised at how much there was for a Sunday!

We saw some critters along the way…and a few warnings about the critters.

And a few odd sights.

Today we departed the campground and headed up to the town of Jasper right smack dab in the middle of the mountains.  On there way there is a hot mineral bath.  Who could resist?  The temperate outside was 40 degrees and the pool temperature was 104 degrees.  We spent an enjoyable 2 hours soaking followed up by a short hike to the source of the hot mineral water.

We are now going to spend the next couple of days exploring the Jasper area.  By the end of the week, we should have wandered down to Banff.  But we’ll see.  Our schedule is VERY flexible!
